CEG is supporting Hal Company's latest professional production. Come see it in Bury St Edmunds June 7th - 9th.

We’re proud to be supporting the Hal Company with their latest production by Danusia Iwaszko.

Still Small Voice is a play about self-belief, perseverance and courage. Trusting herself when all men doubted her, Margaret Kemp fought in the 1950′s to keep open the Quaker House in Bury St. Edmunds, Suffolk. Convinced that the house and her beloved faith would be needed for the future, she staged a virtual sit-in, sometimes under an umbrella as there were holes in the roof where the rain came in. This touching tale of one woman’s trust in her still small voice, inspires us all to keep the faith.

Award winning writer Danusia brings to Bury St Edmunds a rare professional piece grounded in the ever interesting history of the town. We are providing full production support including management and technical support to transform the Quaker Meeting house in to a theatre venue; but yet keeping it a Quaker Meeting house…

Please come along to see how we’re achieving this with the full professional cast Thursday 7th June through Saturday 9th June at 7.30pm (and 2.30pm on Saturday), but book quickly through the Theatre Royal as tickets are selling fast. If you can’t make it this time then look out for upcoming dates on the national tour due in the future.

Congratulations to long term clients Theatre Is…

Over the last couple of weeks we’ve worked with them on a great roadshow event with hundreds of young people at the Gateway Academy and supported this week’s scratch performances from the Digital Academy at the UK Centre for Carnival Arts. The variety and quality of performance was superb; and with 22 diverse acts to squeeze in to the time it was an enjoyable challenge to turn the space over between acts. Now on to the next projects with them and many more…

A CEG Director is mentioned in a government review publication & is pleased to already support many of the recommendations.

Director Emrys Green was interviewed last year by Darren Henley, the managing director of Classic FM, who was undertaking a review in to cultural education in England. The results of this review were published today and provide a strong indicator of how local arts organisations should be working with schools and providers to ensure a rich delivery of cultural education.

Mr Henley also made a very specific recommendation in support of the Arts Award:

Recommendation 11: The Arts Award
Most children and young people should be encouraged to take part in the Arts Award and Junior Arts Award, which should be regarded as a valuable qualification.

Here at CEG we are proud to already offer the Arts Award, and to be a welcome centre and have particular expertise to not only work in professional venues, but bring our fresh and innovative approach to schools and venues that can benefit from our ability to make temporary transformations of a space in to an arts venue.

And another recommendation for cultural industries linked teachers is:

Recommendation 15: Connecting teachers to industry
A new scheme should be developed across the entire cultural sector to allow teachers to remain in touch with relevant professional developments outside of education. This scheme should include a mechanism for the further dissemination of this learning to other teachers in a local area. Teachers should be helped to build links with industry to ensure that their knowledge remains up-to-date. This could be through relationships with a local design company, theatre or higher education institution. Headteachers should consider whether this would be an effective use of Inset Days for teachers of Cultural Education subjects.

We are able to work within schools and colleges to work with both students and staff to bring current professional practice, and equipment, that can support long term development.

View the cultural education review on the Department for Education Website >>
